Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers (IIME) is a professional body to co-ordinate
the efforts of all those associated with Mineral Benificiation and promote Mineral Processing
in India.
At a symposium on Mineral Dressing held at Varanasi on 2nd Jan 1968, it was decided to form an
Institute for Mineral Engineers with a view to promoting the advancement of science and technology of
Mineral Dressing in India.

To promote the study and practice of the science
and art of mineral dressing and extraction.

To serve the cause of minerals industry in the conservation
and best exploitation of the mineral wealth of India.

To advance and protect the increase of the mineral
engineers.

To encourage , assist and extend knowledge and information
connected with mineral engineering by lecture, discussions,
correspondence or publication of transactions, holding
of conferences and meeting and to organize visits
to ore dressing and allied plants.

To tender advice to government and commercial bodies
whenever advice on matters pertaining to mineral
beneficiation is desired.

To organize and maintain a bureau to help the members
of the Institute to secure suitable employment and
assist members who may be in need of employment.
